Order Mead & Get It Delivered
Sustainability
At Honeytree, we strive to make the best mead to homage to the drink’s history, our place in time, and our environment’s future. This is why we use quality local honey to form the backbone of every mead, whether the honey is from nearby apiaries or from our very own hives in Nashville, TN.
Because the production of mead is tied directly to the well-being of bees (and their keepers). We are committed to beekeeping culture and education throughout Davidson county and beyond.
What Makes a Mead?
Beer has grains. Wine has grapes. Mead has honey.
The smooth, sweet taste of traditional mead is similar to wine (it’s even been known by as “honey-wine” by some). **But, it has a special twist that I’d like to articulate here.** With an ABV between 10-12%, it can be sweet, semi-sweet, and dry.
Our mead has three core ingredients: local honey, high quality yeast and pure, filtered water.
The main flavors of the mead typically come from the type of honey used (i.e. wildflower, sour-wood, orange blossom), but adjuncts like fruit, spices and herbs are also commonly used and can elevate the beverage to create exciting specialty mead. One of our favorites is Sweet Baby Ginger – our candied ginger mead.
Historically, most people believe mead to be synonymous with Nordic cultures, but archaeological evidence of honey-based alcoholic beverages have been found in ancient China, Egypt, Rome, and Ethiopia.
We are excited to bring this ancient beverage and its rich history to East Nashville.
